The Whole Package

Short Run packaging solutions by Blooming Color

How can you get HP Indigo quality packaging, without the cost investment of a long run? You just think outside the box.

When it comes to purchasing packaging, companies are faced with a major upfront cost for high volume orders – typical packaging production starts at 500 units or more. But what if your business only wants or needs small batches?

There’s an ever-growing consumer demand for product differentiation with an authentic packaging experience. How can you afford to experiment with something when you’re going to be debuting a brand new product, or testing a new market?

You need a partner who can create the customized limited run you expect, with the quality and care you don’t.

Look no further – Blooming Color is the whole package. We offer the short-run packaging solutions that large packaging manufacturers can’t. By producing small quantities on-demand at an affordable price, we eliminate waste in printing costs and resources.

Here are just a few opportunities we can offer product manufacturers:

Launching Trial Products – Sometimes you’re just testing the waters with an incredibly limited number, which a traditional corrugated supplier can’t provide. By partnering with us for their inaugural summer run, our client Backpack Wine was able to give the public a taste of their high-end canned wine through this unique endcap display, and even increase their amount of retailers.

New Types of Packaging – Products are ever-evolving: you need to be able to prototype and test out different types of packaging solutions. In many cases, we enable clients to make the final decision of what leads to a longer run.

Seasonal or Promotional Products – There are often projects you don’t need to produce year-round. We’ll tackle a short run for the season, and also handle any regional and demographic variants of your product.

That’s only the beginning of our innovative short-run capabilities. Did you know that Blooming Color can digitally print on up to 18pt stock? That means you can print smaller runs with the quality of an Indigo press, at a much more affordable price than traditional offset (and don’t worry – on a traditional offset press, we can print up to 24 pt).

Our Zünd Digital Cutter is perfectly tailored for packaging applications. This unbelievable equipment allows us to react quickly to your packaging needs, and provide the top quality of service, every single time.

We’re masters of the short run. After working with us on your packaging, you will want to be partners for the long run.

Express Your Shelf

Blooming Color’s Bold Approach to Retail Shelf Marking

With retail’s ever-changing landscape, you need a partner who can keep up with the ebb and flow of commerce.

At Blooming Color, one of our areas of expertise is creating retail shelf tags. For instance, one of our clients is a retail chain with 42 stores throughout the Midwest. We print thousands of shelf labels per week for each of their locations – first by dynamically merging a weekly database that matches their printed circular, and then printing, boxing, and shipping the matching shelf labels.

A few of the advantages of our retail shelf marking process are:

Digital Printing, On Demand – For your fast-paced environment, we ensure a speedy turnaround time

Ease & Efficiency – Your shelf tags are delivered in planogram order, ready to hang. This optimizes operations for your store, allowing you to hang tags quickly and easily.

Adaptability – Has the planogram changed? No problem. Our shelf tags come individually cut, instead of on a roll so that you can easily update the order.

Custom Online Portal – Maybe an additional shelf tag comes up after the original order. We can program a custom online portal that allows you to create and print shelf tags in-house on a specially designed template.

Quality of Labels – Our retail shelf tags are printed on our cutting-edge HP Indigo presses, achieving the highest quality and color consistency on the market.

Research & Development – As your needs evolve, we’ll evolve with you – and we’ll do extensive work and check-ins to ensure that process and product meets your expectations along the way.

Quality of Fulfillment – Above all, precision is our top priority. All your shelf tags are printed and boxed accurately, on-time.

At Blooming Color, we not only meet your needs – we ink the impossible. Want to know what we can do for you? Let’s exchange some numbers.

We noticed the Best Nine fever on social media, and we couldn’t help but get in on the fun. Here’s how we inked the impossible for our best projects of 2018.

1) It’s good to stick together for the holidays. Designed by Alyssa Low with Eight Bit Studios, The Koetz Fam wanted a holiday card with stickers. We achieved this for them by printing 4/0 (CMYK) on 60# UltraDigital Matte Litho Label in White. No need for mistletoe – this kiss-cut was by the Zünd.

2) We love it when we get to geek out in R&D. When The Mentholatum Company needed Softlips Oasis packaging mockups, we created these. Printed 5/1 (CMYK + White/Black) on 16pt UltraDigital Mirri Board in Silver, they were then die cut by the Zünd.

3) We propose nothing but the best. For JLL’s Wrigley Building Proposal for Disposition Services, we created a sophisticated book with the cover printed 5/0 (CMYK +White) on 100# Classic Crest Cover in Epic Black, and then we foil-stamped the Wrigley Building in black gloss foil. The interior pages printed 4/4 on 80# McCoy Silk Text. For the finishing touch, we went the extra mile to drill and grommet the book with black grommets.

4) It takes ambition to ink the impossible, and this was the perfect project for it. For the JLL Ambitions Magazine (Second Edition), we came up with covers printed 4/4 on 100# Lynx Opaque Smooth White Cover. We even created an interior fold-out section printed 5/5 (CMYK + White) on 80# Classic Crest Cover in Imperial Red, which was then perfect bound. Take it from the client: “I truly could not love this paper more.”

5) What could be more heavy metal than holographic posters? We drummed up these Iron Maiden exclusives for OffBeat Enterprises – printed in conjunction with ComiCon 4/0 on UltraDigital Silver and Rainbow Mirri Boards. Rock on.

6) We consider this the finest book in the solar system. For SourceBooks, we did pre-publishing samples of “8 Little Planets” – printed 4/4 on 18pt Tango C2S, and die cut by the Zünd. We’re sorry, Pluto.

7) Innovative print is always worth pursuing. For the Chicago Tabernacle, we executed a 5/4 (CMYK + White/CMYK) card on 12pt UltraDigital Silver Mirri Board.

8) It’s amazing what legendary ink can do, and we did a Rebrand/Recruiting Die Cut Brochure for Entara. The pocket was printed 4/4 on 100# Endurance Silk Cover with Matte UV Coating, and the interior booklet was printed 4/4 on 80# Endurance Silk Cover, also with Matte UV Coating. And as the truly iconic touch, it was assembled by hand by our best craftsmen.

9) Work so good, you can feel it. Here are Casino Cards for Dom Perignon, printed 5/5 (CMYK + White) on two sheets of 12 pt UltraDigital Mirri Board in Silver. We hand-mounted the sheets, then laminated with a 7mil soft touch laminate, so that this piece feels as smooth as the drink tastes.

With our team of visionaries, Blooming Color had its best year yet. Here’s looking forward to the legendary work we’ll make with you in 2019.
